First Weight In

Last night was my first weight in. And I must say I am pleasantly surprised! I mean, I said all week that if I lost 4 lbs. I would be extatic but was hoping for 2 lb realistically. When I got off the scale... down 5 lbs, yes I said FIVE! :0 I am so happy with my results! Now on to next week! I'm still nervous about this weekend! I've got to have the power to just say no this weekend! Or just work out like crazy after I have my fun this weekend! Thats probably more like it! So needless to say, a stop watch is on the Wal-Mart list for this week! I cant believe I've already hit my first goal! Yahooooo! I'm super pumped! (can you tell?)

Long Overdue Update

Hello... been a while! Not that it is a good excuse, but I've noticed I'm not the only one with "writers block" this past month. Is blogging a thing of the past or is everyone just in a rut? I cant answer that because I dont even know what has brought on my lack of blogging recently but at any rate, I'm back!

So, what's new? Well, I am back on Weight Watchers. First meeting was last Wednesday. It feels good to get back on track. I'm setting small goals starting out. Like my first 5lb loss will lead me to the purchase of a stop watch so that I can start training on the do's and dont's of jogging which will turn into sooner than later I pray training for a half marathon and then a marathon... ok so thats not a mini goal but the stop watch 5 lb goal is mini. To be followed by my 10 lb. goal of a new smokin hot outfit (if it falls when I think it should) which will be right around the time Shannon, Becky, & I get together for our girls get together in mid May. And then to follow up for my 15 lb goal which will be new running shoes. I know, why not have the shoes follow the stop watch... good idea I know, but I have to have a reason to shop somewhere in there! :) My first weigh in is Wednesday and if it wasnt for that pizza & Bud Light on Friday night I wouldnt be phased one bit about it. But I'm only human, right! I mean I stayed within my points so hopefully I have nothing to worry about!

Spring is here which means the calendar is quickly filling for me & Matt! But I am really looking forward to everything (well almost everything). This weekend is Tigers game #2... not sure how well WW is going to get along with ball park food & beer but we'll find out soon enough!

Credit Cards Suck!

So since the sale of our land, Matt & I thought this would be the perfect time to get serious about paying off credit card debt. What a nightmare!! Has anyone really looked at what they are paying when you send in your monthly payment? FYI in case you haven't, the credit card companies in most cases are ripping you off!

Time to do something about it I say! So, I decided I was going to call every card company that I had and TRY to negotiate the APR and or balance of the card. What a joke! It doesnt make any sense to me; here's what happened. I called the first place, they pulled my account history and told me something I already know- that I havent missed a single payment. Hello, I know this. The lady preceeds to tell me that if I want "a break" I'm going to have to miss 4 consecutive payments! WTF?!? I'm trying to reduce my debt not get into a bigger pile of poo! So I say screw that and move onto the next one... this went on 3 times with each one telling me the same thing.

Here's what I dont understand: why punish the people that are making an effort? I could be like a lot of other people in the world at this time saying heck with payments I'll just file bankrupcy or whatever but I'm not! Granted I dont have a problem paying my bills, they get paid each month faithfully, but whats wrong with trying to get ahead? I cant get over that they wont do anything for you until you are in really bad shape! I'm thinking, hello I'm trying to get this thing paid off... isnt that the point? Obviously I've been mistaken!

Like I previously said, if you dont know what your monthly payment is going towards find out! Example: 1 of my credit cards I pay the minimum balance on each month, well come to find out that minimum balance is ONLY covering the interest that gets tacked on each month. LITERALLY this card will NEVER get paid off unless I put more money towards it! I just about fell out of my chair!

I am so sick to my stomach I cant even think straight! Wish me luck in this long hard process of becoming debt free! Oh its music to my ears :)

Rain anyone?

If anyone wants the rain,and they live further than say 50 miles from me, please take it!

Thankfully as I write this, the rain has stopped. But as for last night, not so much! It rained cats and dogs (never really understood that but oh well) all night!

As if the thought of the water rising and the possibility of it coming into my house wasnt enough, please add that my husband had to go to a friends house to help him get water out of his basement, followed by Matt getting called into work all night (he got home at 530a this morning), and finally lifting the garage door this morning to find that my street, driveway, & yard were completly under water!

Although I grumble about Matt having to go into work, on the other hand I say thank God! Why? Well because he was able to bring home the mini-dump truck for the 1.5hr of rest he got so that he could transport us to work this morning!

So now I ask, where did all this rain go? I dont know! At noon Matt showed up at my work with the Envoy, he said all the water was gone! I wish I would have taken before & after pics! The after is gross and yucky! There are lines all over the yard showing where the water stopped!

I know, I know, I should just be grateful the water didnt enter my home! So for that reason I will stop ranting and just be thankful that the sun is shining now... still like 35 degrees out, but indeed the sun is shining!

Lets Go Tigers!!

Whoop Whoop!! Its official, I printed off my home opener tickets for the Tigers vs. Rangers today!! I am sooo excited! This is the first home opener we have ever been to for the Tigers! And add to it that while Matt was ordering the tix he accidently (so he says) hit the wrong day and ordered tix for Saturday as well so it appears we will be spending the entire first weekend in Detroit! So although I dont believe that it was an accident, I am very delighted that he got them none the less! And, on top of that we have 1 game a month from April to October! This summer is gonna be a goodie!!

Blog Neglect

Real quick just because I'm bored out of my mind. I've come to realize when I'm this bored I tend to get "caught up" on the blogs I follow. Well, I have come to the conclusion it is very frustrating when I see a blog that hasnt been updated in like a week, 2 weeks, or even a month! I am going to committ right now that I dont go more than a couple days (excluding the weekend) without a new blog. I mean, if you dont have anything to write about or say then why have a blog, right? I follow 2 blogs (neither are on my page) of family members, neither has updated since January. I even confronted the one telling him I needed something to read while I sit so bored out of my mind and he said he guess he was just to lazy to keep it up! Hello then delete the dang thing. Dont waste my time in anticipating a new entry. So enough of that :)

Oops, that leads me to the next thing... I've realized I have neglected to update on the Hemenway Biggest Loser. Well, i think we all fizzled out pretty quickly. I think my dad is still going strong but as for the rest of us, not so sure. I have to think of something to jump start my butt into action!!!

Monday Morning Humor

I know I need a good laugh to help me jump start my Monday, how about you? The following are courtisy of my wonderful amazing nephews! I was blessed to see Zain, Cooper, & Devin this weekend and cant help but share some of the darndest things that they said.

Zain was watching Blue's Clues when they showed 2 girls eating pizza. Zain looked at me and said, "I need Pizza Hut now!".... little stinker got Pizza Hut too but thats beside the point... and no not because A. Jess gave in but because daddy did! Later his mom asked him if he had brushed his teeth that morning smelling an unpleasant aroma coming from his mouth, he said yes but then wouldnt open his mouth. So I said to him if he doesnt brush his teeth they will rot and fall out. He said (of course), "they need too anyway so I can get my big teeth in"... Duh A. Jess!

Cooper is in to telling us stories these days that always start with "once upon a time", are usually filled with monsters, castles, and dinasours, and ending with "the end". We hear his story, then Zain's story, and then usually have to tell them one.
*this portion was forwarded by my sister... Saturday night Cooper went with his dad to go pick up their new refrigerator, on the way Cooper told Daddy he wanted him to tell a story to him & the moon, (how cute!!) so daddy told him a scary story. When they arrived to pick up their fridge Dave left Cooper in the car to load it up. When Dave got back in the car Cooper couldnt believe he would leave him in the car all alone because he was sooo scared after the story!!! So of course I had to ask Cooper about it yesterday and he said, "uh huh, I was sooo scared because daddy left me in the dark".

Devin comes from the other side of the family, the side that likes Michigan and hates Ohio State. This 2 1/2 year old now says "Bucks Suck" when prompted too by his parents. Well Saturday he was over at our house playing with an OSU football. His mom said, "Devin do we like the buckeyes" (expecting him to say no bucks suck), and instead he said, "well we must, we ate them all!"
